About

Melanie Medina, known professionally as Meljii, is an LA-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer whose versatility has made her a sought-after collaborator across genres and stages. From intimate songwriting rounds to stadium performances, Melanie brings technical precision and emotional depth to every project.

As a touring guitarist with Los Yesterdays, Melanie has performed at major venues including The Greek Theatre, Dodgers Stadium, Desert Diamond Arena, and Hard Rock Cafe locations across multiple markets. She's also toured and played for Jackie Mendez, and spent time in the UK as bassist with San Diego Kate Bush tribute band Baby Bushka, where she features lead vocals on "Deeper Understanding."

Her studio work is equally diverse. Melanie co-wrote, produced, and played multiple instruments—including guitar, bass, mandolin, and ukulele—on Mara Sol's latest project "Permanent Recovery", adding her signature touch on backing vocals and arrangements throughout. She's also produced albums for a range of independent artists and songwriters, bringing her collaborative spirit and technical expertise to each project.

Melanie's theater credits are equally impressive, including "Bhangin' It" at La Jolla Playhouse, "Girlfriend" at the historic Diversionary Theater, and "Cindy and the Disco Ball" at Garry Marshall Theatre in Burbank. Her extensive orchestra pit experience showcases her ability to navigate complex arrangements and collaborate seamlessly with directors and fellow musicians.

As a songwriter, Melanie has built a strong reputation in the sync and commercial music space. She's one half of Ursidae Music, a production and composer duo with A.J. Crew that has secured placements with established music libraries, and she's a regular presence at writer camps and sync camps, where her ability to craft emotionally resonant, placement-ready songs continues to open doors.

A graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies, Melanie has continued to develop her production skills through IO Music Academy. Under her artist project Meljii, she writes and releases original music that reflects her diverse influences and experiences. She's been featured at the Hotel Cafe and Writers' Round LA, where she continues to hone her craft alongside fellow songwriters. When she's not in the studio or on stage, Melanie teaches private lessons on guitar and bass, sharing her knowledge with the next generation of musicians.

When she's not playing music, Melanie can usually be found traveling, cooking, or reading a book.
